Planting seeds of kindness,
growing a movement of gratitude
What We Believe
The Gratitude Project is built on one truth: kindness has the power to change lives.
What began as conversations with strangers and small acts of kindness has grown into something bigger, paying for groceries or gas, delivering flowers to widows, and teaching children in classrooms and churches the joy of giving. The Gratitude Project continues to grow in unexpected ways.
We believe generosity has the power to surprise us, open our hearts, and remind us how connected we really are. The stories you’ll find here are real. The moments are unscripted. And every act of kindness is an invitation to carry it forward. True stories. Real people. Radical kindness.
Founded by Sally Showman who spent more than a decade as a TV reporter witnessing the transformation that comes from being heard and seen. The Gratitude Project carries that spirit into everyday life. Through simple acts of kindness, paying it forward, and teaching the next generation to plant seeds of kindness gratitude, we are building a ripple effect of compassion. When we slow down and connect, we see we’re not so different after all.
What We Do
Small Acts, Big Impact
1: Surprise Acts of Kindness
From groceries and gas to flowers for widows, we give unexpected gifts that spark connection and gratitude.
We capture and share real stories of resilience, gratitude, and hope to inspire others to carry kindness forward.
2: Sharing Stories
In schools and churches, we invite kids to experience the joy of giving and learn that even small acts can create big ripples.
3: Teaching the Next Generation
Kindness in Action
Gratitude Stories
What began as unscripted conversations with strangers has grown into something bigger: surprise grocery and gas giveaways, flowers for widows, and children learning to serve in classrooms and churches. Every moment is different, yet each one reveals the same truth: gratitude creates connection, resilience, and joy in unexpected places.
“I just wanted to reach out and let you know what the experience you gave me feels like. I'm still having a hard time believing this is real, you gave me a sense of hope in a world that doesn't feel hopeful right now. This experience has taught me that beautiful people...are still out there and you've brightened my life completely. Thank you so much there's no words to describe the feelings you gave me today. I will never forget this moment!"
